EDF Jet Engine
EDFs, or Electric Ducted Fans are popular amongst the remote control airplane community. Most aircraft designs that use them mount them deep within a frame with long ducts leading in and out from the EDF. This works fine for single engine aircraft, but modeling larger designs with podded engine nacelles requires a different mount design. This design was built to utilize a 50mm diameter EDF. Considerations were made to ensure that airflow may be channeled through the windings to the brushless motor to ensure airflow for cooling is maintained. Preliminary stand tests indicate this design is able to output upwards of 7.848N of thrust operating from an 11.1V supply.
